Theodore A. Wilson passed away on Friday evening, June 24, 2011 at the Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada. Ted was 70.
Ted was born in Guelph, Ontario, Canada June 9, 1941 the son of Jack and Mary (Mulrooney) Wilson. He was the youngest of seven children and raised in a large loving home. The Catholic Church with Jesuit Priests influenced Ted's philosophy in life. He attended Catholic Schools in Canada until he joined the Canadian Army, he was in the Canadian Royal 2nd regiment Horse Artilleries from 1959 - 1964. He taught Jump Training School for the Canadian Army for many years. He worked as a Forest Ranger with the Canadian Forest Service overseeing Fort Providence in the Northwest Territories of Canada for 16 years fighting fires and supervising the Slavery Indians. During this time in helped build 26 homes and had many of the tribe members quit drinking because of his influence, he became a member of the Slavery Tribe. Ted came to the United States in 1980 and owned many printing press companies for several years in the Tahoe area and also sold real estate. he moved to Reno and purchased a large downtown building and opened a printing press company there. Later he became a loan officer and finance person.
Ted was truly a community man, he was involved in a Boy Scout Group for the handicapped in Canada. He was with the Calvary Young Professional Active Service Club for many years, active in 20/20 and 20/30 clubs and was an active Rotary Member. His favorite charity was the Children's Hospital. He enjoyed Nascar racing and was involved in his earlier years in the Stock Car Association in Canada and the USA.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol and her husband, David Michols; his three grandchildren, Alicia, Samantha and Ryan all of Canada; his siblings, Diane Godfrey, Carol Horner, Tom Wilson and Jill Pembleton; his partner, Patricia Welle; and was a father figure to Barry Culbert and Dayleen Cook. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, his brother Jack and sister, Verne Contini.
Ted's memorial service will be held 10:00 am Saturday, July 9th at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home 25 Hwy 208 Yerington.
