Gaila M. Smith

On Wednesday afternoon, May 30th, our beloved Gaila Smith returned home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, after a long 12 year battle against cancer. Gaila was a determined fighter who never gave up. She trusted the Lord as she passed away in peace at home surrounded by family and love. She was 55.

Gaila was the most loving and caring Mother, Wife and Friend anyone could ask for and then some. She loved and cherished her time with the children's ministry at the Vineyard Church in her hometown of Yerington. She was an amazing and dedicated quilter with many beautiful pieces for us to remember her by. Gaila also enjoyed traveling and site seeing new and exciting places with her family.

Gaila worked at the Yerington school district for several years and then retired to work along side her husband, Grant Smith, in the family business. She was a dedicated wife and business partner to her husband for 24 years.

She is loved and missed by her parents, Skip and Donna Shaffer; her husband, Grant Smith, her brothers, Mark and David Shaffer and their families; her children, Rodney, Travis, Brian and Jenne Smith; as well as her grandchildren, Mason, Rowdy, Hayden and Tilly Smith.

A celebration of Gaila's life will be held 10:30 am, Saturday, June 23rd at the Yerington Vineyard Church, 307 Broadway Avenue, Yerington. Per her request and wishes she would ask that no black be worn at the celebration service.

Family and Friends are invited to sign her online guest book to leave messages for the family at www.FRFH.net, sympathy cards may be sent to Grant directly from this site.

The family reuests that memorial donations may be made in Gaila's honor to a church's children ministry of your choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington, Nevada 89447 (775) 463-2911.

Please join the family for this celebration with memorable stories, smiles and love for all.
