Obituary
Andrew Allen
passed away on Sunday morning, March 30, 2014 at the Saint Mary's Medical Center in Reno, Nevada. He was 84.
Andrew was born in Fallon, Nevada on December 12, 1929 the son of Tom Allen and Mamie Dale.
He moved to Schurz when he was 10 years old and attended school in Schurz until the 8th grade, he then attended high school at Stewart. After high school he attended college in Carson City and in Oregon. He also attended school in Boise, Idaho where he learned to fly. He then had joined the United States Air Force and was a veteran of World War II.
Andrew had married Beatrice Little in Reno, Nevada. They had lived in Owyhee, Nevada where he had worked for the schools and also for the road department. He later went to work in Carson City where he worked for the city then transferred to the State of Nevada where he worked for the Building and Grounds department. He retired from the position in 1987. Andrew was known as a story teller and he is featured on the Nevada Artist website.
He is survived by his wife over 65 years, Beatrice Allen of Schurz; his sister, Mary Johnson of Schurz; a cousin, Marjorie Johnson of Schurz; his nieces, Elaine Bender of Yerington, Barbara Neuneker of Carson City, Shirley Steele of Fernley, Gail Boney of Fallon, LaVerda Lovelace of Schurz and Sharon Williams of Fallon; his Nephews, Richard "Tommy" Allen of Schurz, Bert Johnson of Schurz, Alvery D. Williams of schurz and Johnnie Williams, Jr. of Schurz; also by many cousins, great nieces and nephews and other family members and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; Brothers, Richard Allen, Clarence Dodd; Sister, Irene Williams, a niece, Marlene Hall Moyle and a cousin, Catherine Martinez.
A viewing will be held 6 - 8:00 pm Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home 25 Hwy 208 Yerington, Nevada . His funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Schurz Tribal Gym in Schurz, a viewing will also be held at the gym begininning at 10:00 am Saturday. Burial will be at the Schurz Cemetery. A reception will follow the service at the Tribal Gym.
