Obituary
Anita Marie Wood Johnson passed away on Friday afternoon, June 24, 2011 at the South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington, Nevada. Anita was 87.
Anita was born in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Riley and Gladys (Eversole) Wood on February 22, 1924. Her family moved to Sandpoint, Idaho where Anita had graduated from High School in 1941. In 1944 she graduated from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Spokane, Washington.
On Friday the 13th, 1946 she married the love of her life, Harry Johnson. They lived in Spokane, WA for many years where they raised their three children before moving to Beatty, Nevada in 1961. Harry and Antia purchased the El Portal Motel from Anita's parents. Harry ran the Motel and Anita ran the Beatty clinic and for years she was known as the 'Beatty Doctor'. In 1976 she went back to school to become and was a Physicians Assistant. Anita along with her husband Harry were very involved in the Beatty community, they were instrumental in founding the Beatty Community Church. In 2009 Anita moved to Yerington, Nevada to the Mason Valley Residence as assisted living home. Anita was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother.
Anita was survived by her sons, Rick (Nancy) Johnson of Beatty, NV, Randy (Theresa) Johnson of Elk River, Idaho; her daughter, Michele (Larry) Marcom of Yerington, NV; her brothers, Jim (Virginia) Wood of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Doug (Ruth Ann) Wood of Colorado; her sister, Virginia (Al) Franzen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and two in the oven. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Bob and Dave Wood; and her husband, Harry Johnson.
There will be a private 'Celebration of her Life' to be held in Yerington. A graveside ceremony will be held at the Beatty Cemetery with the date and time to be announced later. Donations may be made in her name to the, Betty Community Church PO Box 429 Beatty, NV 89003.
