In 1945, his Father brought him to Paradise Valley, Nevada, and Archie quickly became a Nevada Buckaroo.
He was about 14 years old when he went to work for Lynn Kimball at the Circle A Ranch as a horse wrangler and eventually cowboyed on various ranches in Humboldt, Pershing and Elko counties. On March 1, 1955 he married Betty Lee Adams on the C&M Ranch out of Imlay, nevada. Together they continued to enjoy the ranching industry and raised three children; Archie "Dennis" Lynn, Mason and Bonnie. In 1960, the family moved to Yerington, Nevada where Archie would work for Anaconda Mine for the next 18 years. After leaving the mine, he and Betty moved to 9 mile Ranch south of Yerington from where he worked for the Flying M Ranch until 1990, Archie and Betty then went to work at the Clarksville or Soldier Meadowas on the Black Rock Desert, and then at the Goodwin Ranch in Sierra Valley, California. It was in Beckworth, California on June 12, 2000 that Archie lost his beloved wife, Betty. That fall he moved back to Yerington making it his home ever since.
Archie enjoyed telling a good story, being a part of a good prank, following his grandchildren's adventures, eating a good pie and the company of his dog.
