M. Ardith Askins passed away on August 30, 2007 at County Villa Riverview Rehabilation Center in Susanville, California. She was 94.

Ardith was born in Yerington on December 6, 1912 the daughter of James and Hilda Barton. Upon graduating from Yerington High School in 1930 she married William Donald Askins, and the marriage lasted 53 years until Don's death in 1983. Ardith was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing in tournaments in Yerington and Susanville. She had a great love of music, playing for musicals in high school and for family singing around the piano. The Yerington Music Association and the Community Concert Association were two of her main interests. For several years she accepted donations for the Heart Fund account in Yerington. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood and the Holy Family Catholic Church of Yerington. She has resided in Susanville for the past 15 years.

Ardith is survived by her Daughter, Donna and her husband Joseph Harvey of Susanville, California, her son Kenneth and his wife Sandra Askins of Yerington, Nevada; her grandchildren, Leslie (Dale) Dandois of Reno, James (Nicole) Dandois of Janesville, Christopher Askins of Yerington, and Jeffrey Askins of Verdi; great grandchildren, Heather and Dylan Beesmer of Reno and Bill and Max Dandois of Janesville. she was preceded in death by her parents, her twin brothers, Jack at the age of 4 years and Benjamin who died in 2002.

Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, September 4th, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Yerington. Burial was in the family plot at Valley View Cemetery.
