Obituary
Athena 'Bessie' Lapadakis passed away at her home in Yerington Wednesday afternoon, April 27, 2011 with her family by her side.
Bessie was 92.
Bessie was born on February 27, 1919 in Gary, Indiana the daughter of George and Georgia (Chellos) Photopoulos.
She graduated from Madera High School and then went to San Jose State. She met Alex Lapadakis and they were married in 1939. Bessie and her husband owned three restaurants in Santa Monica. She also worked at LAX until she retired at the age of 80. Bessie moved to Yerington in 2006 with her daughter, Goldie. Bessie loved Yerington and was happy to be here. Bessie enjoyed going to the Race Track to watch the horses race, she also loved to shop with her kids and enjoyed working in the yard.
Bessie is survived by her daughters, Goldie Clark and Sophie Lappos; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Tony, Pete and Gus; her sister, Mary; her daughter and her husband Annette and Tom Houchen.
In keeping with her wishes no memorial service will be held. Cremation was under the direction of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home 25 Hwy 208 Yerington (775) 463-2911.
