Baldo Giorgi, born Nov. 27, 1930 in Yerington, NV, passed away Nov. 6, 2019 in Sparks, NV after a life well lived. He was 88.
A life filled with family, community service and hard work. Baldo grew up in Yerington, the youngest of 5, always eager to keep up with his older siblings, starting first grade when he was 5 so he could be with them. After high school, he attended Fresno State University where he played football and met his wife of 53 years, Jacqueline Bardini. Initially they made Yerington their home, before moving to Topaz, CA where they raised three children, David, Kenneth and Sharon. Baldo was a lifelong rancher, always dedicated to the welfare of his herd and maintaining the ranch to very strict standards, both with a keen sense of frugality and thorough use of all available resources.
Baldo was an avid supporter of all things Coleville High School, attending thousands of sporting events over the years, initiating the Giorgi family scholarship in honor of his wife Jackie and organizing the long running Lyons Club Basketball Tournament. Community service through the Lions Club was Baldo's passion. He opened his ranch every year to a Cow Patty Golf Tournament and prepping meat for the annual Deer Hunters Bar-B-Q, all to fund more scholarships and support individuals in need of eye care. Through the Lions Club, Baldo met Sandie Baetge, whom he married in 2007. Their involvement in Lions Club activities kept them active and involved in the community for the 12 years of their marriage. Baldo lived his life in a way that inspired others to be better, to give to the community, to be honest and to enjoy each other. Baldo will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him. The example he was to his children will go on to live through them. Baldo is preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Giorgi; brothers Ugo, Elmo and Evo Giorgi; sister Norma Pursel; and parents Ugo and Dina Giorgi.
