On September 30, 2017, Bernie Giron passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family at South Lyon Medical Centers Long Term Care in Yerington.  He was 81.

Bernie Giron was born October 31, 1936 in Polvadra New Mexico to Pilar and Andrea Giron. Bernie was the oldest of 14 children and grew up in Albuquerque New Mexico. In 1956 Bernie joined the United States Air Force and at one point he was stationed at Stead Air Force Base. While stationed there he met and married Doris Sam. They were married in 1958 and had 5 children, Gary, Vince, Martha, Yolanda and Tim.

Bernie was employed as a truck driver for the Anaconda Cooper Mine until its close in 1977. In 1980 went to work for the Yerington Paiute Tribe as the Ranch Manager. Bernie loved working for the Tribe and being the Ranch Manager. In 2004 he retired after working 25 years for the Tribe.

Bernie is preceded in death by his wife, Doris who passed away on September 15th; his parents, Pilar and Andrea; siblings, Victor, Aurelia, Eddie, Margaret, Angel, Philip and his and Doris' baby son, Michael.

Services will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, October 7 ^th at The Yerington Paiute Tribal Gym, burial will be at the Tribal section of the Valley View Cemetery in Yerington and a celebration of life and lunch will be at the Yerington Tribal Community Center.
