IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty
Fraser
December 24, 1930 – June 20, 2019
Betty Lou Fraser left us on June 20, 2019 at 88 years of age. She was living in Vacaville, California close to her oldest son, Fred. Although Betty suffered from dementia, she often mentioned the love of her life, George, with whom she shared over 60 years of wedded bliss.
Betty was born in Mountain Home, Idaho, but being the daughter of a mining family, she moved many times before finding her home in Yerington, Nevada. There she attended high school, became a cheerleader and met her sweetheart, George Fraser, who was a star basketball player. Betty got a Rifle Scholarship to attend UCLA and after a semester transferred to the University of Nevada to be closer to George. Betty and George eloped in Hawthorne, Nevada, August 31st, 1950, and soon had three sons. They made their life in Yerington.
Betty was active in many organizations including South Lyon Medical Center (SLMC) Hospital Auxiliary, Bridge Club, and University of Nevada Beef Eaters. Betty helped George start his State Farm Agency where she was the office manager. She loved to travel and always kept detailed notes about their trips around the world. After retirement they spent part of every year in their fifth wheel trailer travelling across North America, even flying their grandchildren to visit them in Washington DC and Niagara Falls. Betty and George took the whole family on many exciting adventures.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband George William Fraser Sr., her parents Frank Dodge and Eleanor Anton, her brother Frank Dodge Jr, and her half siblings Larry and Phillis Dodge. She is survived by her sister Sherree Hitzemann, her three sons, Fred (Char), Bill (Kelly), and Ron (Marian); 8 grandchildren: Zack, Tim, Luke, Ryan, Mallory, Dustin, Scott and Jacob; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Betty and George's remains will be interred at the Yerington Cemetery on Friday, September 6, 2019, at 11 a.m. Anyone who knew them is invited to attend. Donations in Betty's memory can be sent to SLMC Hospital Auxiliary PO Box 703, Yerington, NV 89447 where they will be used as scholarships for students interested in becoming doctors.
Family and friends are invited to sign her online guest book at www.FRFH.net . Local arrangements are under the direction of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington, NV 89447 (775) 463-2911
