IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Ann
Woodward
July 8, 1949 – March 20, 2018
Carol Woodward, age 68, passed away March 20, 2018 after courageously battling an undiagnosed condition for over 2 years. She was born in Yerington, NV on July 8, 1949 to William Oliver Allum and Audrey Evelyn (Riley) Allum.
Carol grew up in Yerington, graduating Yerington High School in 1967. Carol attended University of Nevada Reno, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1971. After marrying and having her son, Carol moved back to Yerington in 1975. She was an active member of the Yerington community throughout her life. As a girl, she was a member of the Yerington Assembly of The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls from 1964-1970, serving numerous leadership positions including Grand Immortality, Grand Charity, and Worthy Advisor of the Yerington Assembly for 1967. While in Reno, Carol served as Mother Advisor to several assemblies in the area.
Upon returning to Yerington, Carol was initiated into Chapter O of the P.E.O. sisterhood in 1978. Carol remained an active member of P.E.O. for the rest of her life, passing away one month shy of her 40 th anniversary. Carol held every office in Chapter O, many of them more than twice, including chapter President. After attending her first P.E.O. convention, Carol knew she wanted to be move involved, so she set her sights on the state board. In 2002, Carol was installed into the Nevada State Board of P.E.O. Over the next 6 years, Carol held each state board office, except Treasurer of which she was ecstatic to avoid, culminating in Nevada State President 2007-2008. After her tenure on the board, Carol continued to attend every convention she could, as she loved seeing her P.E.O. sisters.
Carol was a lifelong member of the Community United Methodist Church in Yerington, where she served several years as a lay pastor, served in numerous positions of the church board, and sang soprano in the church choir.
Carol's passions were teaching children and helping others. Over the course of 40 years, Carol taught at every school in Yerington, including the Rite of Passage, where she taught troubled youth for 15 years. When she wasn't teaching, Carol was delivering Avon, doing yardwork for seniors, driving friends to doctor appointments, baking cookies for friends and family, or watching her beloved Golden Girls or 49ers.
Carol was a fiercely devoted mother and a generous and kind friend to many. She always had a big smile, a strong shoulder, and a witty joke at the ready. Friends and family were her life, and she will be sorely missed by many.
Carol is survived by her son, Craig Woodward (Scott Norton) of Mission Viejo, CA; sister, Connie (Robin) Rosaschi; nephew, Jimmy Rosaschi; and nephew, Robie (Cassy) Rosaschi all of Yerington. Carol will be laid to rest in Valley View Cemetery in Yerington beside her parents.
