Catherine Lomperis Martinez passed away peacefully at her home in Schurz with her family by her side on Saturday morning, April 30, 2011. Catherine was 80.

Catherine was born in Fallon, Nevada on July 16, 1930 the daughter of Mike and Bessie (Dale) Lomperis. She had married George Martinez April 5, 1954 in Schurz, Nevada.

Catherine loved to gamble, teach her kids Paiute, watch old western shows, play handgame and cook. She was a member of the Methodist church and a person of strong faith which she instilled in her children and grandchildren.
Catherine was a great Mother and Grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Marlene (Roy) Begay, Elveda Martinez, George Martinez and Damon Martinez all of Schurz; her grandchildren, Robert Martinez of Colorado, Meagan Martinez and Andrea Martinez of Carson City, Shawndine Begay, Jordan Begay, David Martinez and Maria Martinez all of Schurz; her great grandchildren, Nicholas Martinez of Carson City, Jaelyn Martinez of Dayton and Montana and Maddynn John of Carson City.

Catherine's Memorial Service will be held 10:00 am Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Tribal Gym in Schurz with burial to follow at the Schurz Cemetery.
