Charissa Chisum Rumel passed away at her home in Tacoma, Washington on March 11, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. She was 39.
Charissa was born in Reno, NV on January 10, 1978. She had played sports and was homecoming queen at Yerington High School and graduated in 1996. She attended Dixie College in St George, Utah and then transferred to San Diego where she earned her AA degree and then decided to take a break and move to Tacoma, Washington. There she met her future husband Mike Rumel and became and instant Mother of his twin sons and soon gave birth to their daughter, Olivia. She maintained her close relationship with the boys after her divorce and up to the time of her death.
As a single Mother she spent time raising her daughter and working in the healthcare field as a patient intake clerk. She loved Disneyland where she and Olivia were fortunate to visit several times. She was also a huge Seattle Seahawk fan and she and Olivia got to attend the SF 49ers game last New Years. She loved the sun and beautiful beaches and got to take a trip to Hawaii.
She is survived by her daughter, Olivia and step sons, Rocky and Riley Rumel of Tacoma; her parents, Kay and Rick Douglas of Tacoma and Jim and Kail Chism of Yerington; her sisters, Shawna (Mike) Howard of Reno, Mylee Douglas of Reno Noah and Meg Douglas of Tacoma; nieces, Katie and Emma Chisum of Yerington, Glorianna and Charlotte Douglas of Tacoma; her brothers, Jimmy (Kellie) Chisum of Yerington and Josh Chisum of Renton. nephew, Logan Howard of Spokane and Lucas Howard of Coos Bay, Oregon; several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Claude and Hazel Chisum and maternal grandmother, Lois Messer.
Her graveside service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Valley View Cemetery in Yerington. A Memorial service was also held on March 25th in Federal Way, Washington
