IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlene Diane
Marc
October 18, 1947 – February 8, 2026
Charlene Diane Marc, "Charlie Brown", 78 of Yerington Nevada passed away peacefully on Sunday February 8th surrounded by loved ones.
Charlene was born October 18, 1947, in Tacoma, Washington, to Roland and Zetta Marc. Early in Charlene’s life Zetta met Bob Brown and as a family they moved to Yerington NV where Bob went to work at the Anaconda Mine. Bob and Zetta raised Charlene and her sister Phyllis together in Yerington, a town Charlene would reside in until she passed.
Charlene was a meticulous bookkeeper. A 60-year career that started after her three children started school leaving her with too much time on her hands. Charlene began her accounting career at Snyder Livestock, then moved to Casino West where she stayed for close to 30 years. She left Casino West and bounced around to multiple different places like the City of Yerington and Kafoury Armstrong until she eventually went back to work for the Masini Family. Charlene ended her bookkeeping career at Lahontan Paramedical and Ace Hardware where she worked for the last 10 years of her life.
Charlene lived a vibrant, multifaceted life filled with many passions and interests. She loved to watch professional football and kept handwritten stats of her favorite teams and players. She loved to watch professional basketball, but mainly Steph Curry. She also loved to watch college softball. She spent much of her life outdoors, hiking, riding bikes, playing softball, and spent her early summers riding her horse, and swimming at the Weed Heights pool. She spent many years participating in shooting competitions throughout the state, dirt track car racing in Fallon and even trying her hand at karate. In her later years Charlene became an avid reader.
Charlene was widely known for her softball talents. She played catcher, first base and was one of the best pitchers in the State (due to the best coach, Pat Peeples). She played on many fast pitch teams, ran the adult softball league, and coached many local players through their pitching careers. She spent years co-coaching her grandchildren with her daughter Michelle and many more years enjoying the view from the stands while watching her great granddaughters play. She never missed a game and was oftentimes found watching their practices while sitting in her truck.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents Zetta Marc, Roland Marc and Bob Brown, her sister Phyllis Phipps, her daughter in-law Heather Matheus and her grandson in-law Alex Milne.
She was survived by her three children and their spouses. Rick and Lori Matheus, Trevis (Randy) Matheus, and Michelle and Robby Smith, seven grandchildren, and 13(and counting) great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 15th, 11am-2pm at the Boys and Girls Club, 124 North Main Street Yerington, Nevada. Family and friends are invited to sign her online guest book at www.FRFH.net
