Charles Edward Gibbs passed away at his home in Yerington with his family by his side on Wednesday, January 5, 2011. He was 51.

Ed was born in Hawthorne, Nevada on August 9 , 1959 the son of Charles and Lynne (Lightfoot) Gibbs. He moved to Yerington in 1971 and had graduated from Yerington High School.

At the age of 21 Ed became a Deputy sheriff for Lyon County and in 1987 he went to work for the Nevada Department of Corrections and retired as a supervising Forensic Specialist in 1995. He then purchased and ran Junior's Gun Shop in Yerington until 2008.

Ed touched many lives and was dearly loved. He will always be in our hearts. Ed loved camping and fishing with his family and friends, and loved drinking coffee at the Gun Shop with his buddies while solving the problems of the world.

Ed was preceded in death by his Father, Charles 'Buzz' Gibbs. He is survived by his wife, Julie Gibbs, his son, Adam and his wife Hilary Gibbs, his daughter, Jennifer and her husband Tim Houghton; and the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Riley Houghton and Emma Gibbs; his Mother, Lynne Gibbs; his sister, Lorrie Miller and his brothers, Brian and Mike Gibbs; his Mother-in-law, Elsie Brower and numerous family members.

A Celebration of Ed's life will be at 11:00 am Sunday, January 9th at the Yerington Boys's and Girl's Club of the Mason Valley 124 North Main Street Yerington.
