Charles Richard "Doc" Elliott, OD, of Yerington, Nevada, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on February 21, 2018, at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Elliott (Doc) was a well-known optometrist and resident of Yerington, Nevada, having moved here, from Reno, in 1987 with his wife, Linda, (former school nurse for Lyon County Schools). Doc went on to open additional optometry practices serving Fallon, Hawthorne and Reno. He was a member in the Masonic Lodge (for 50 years) and Lions Club. It didn't take him long to call the wonderful people of Yerington his family.

Born in Lake Port, California in 1939 to Dixie Dean and Norman Charles Elliott. When Doc was 9 years old, he contracted Rheumatic Fever and the family relocated to Palm Desert, California hoping the dry weather would restore his health. While his wellbeing improved, he also met a life-long friend, Jack Lockwood of Hawaii, with whom he remains friends today.

As a young man, Doc attended college at Chico and San Francisco State Universities graduating with a bachelor's degree in biology. He also earned his teacher's certification and was hired to teach in Reno, Nevada. He taught Biology and Chemistry at Wooster High School from 1973-1977. In 1978, the family relocated to Beaverton, Oregon where Doc later graduated from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon earning a Doctorate in Optometry.

Friends and family knew him as a life-long student of nature and science. He also played multiple instruments including guitar and piano. Some of his most cherished memories were spent traveling with his wife, fishing with his son, cooking with his daughter and bee keeping with his grandsons.

Doc is survived by his wife, Linda, of 54 years, his daughter, Kimberly Brock and husband, Charles Brock, son, Sean Elliott and wife, Sherilyn Ostrander-Elliott, and his grandson, Aidan Elliott. His adopted daughters Lorena Morgan and Olga Jaramillo, and adopted grandchildren, Kiara Stone, Kristopher Ross, as well as Mia and Carly Morgan. He also leaves behind many wonderful friends and cousins that provided him with love, care and blessed his life throughout the years. Alan and Vicky Ross, Bob and Mary Jane Smith, Tina and Dick Robison, Jimmy Austin, and his Delta Psi Delta brothers among the many others.

A service to celebrate Doc's life will be held at 2:30 PM, Sunday March 18, 2018 at the Pioneer Crossing Convention Center in Yerington, Nevada with Pastor Tom Chism officiating. Reception immediately following thanks to the PEO Women's Club of Yerington.
