IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christopher David
Harper
September 17, 1971 – September 7, 2017
Christopher David Harper (Chris) died September 7, 2017 in an automobile accident. He was 45 years old.
Chris was born on Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois on September 17, 1971 the son of David and Kaye Harper. Chris joined the U.S. Navy in 1993. He spent 24 years in San Diego, California where he met his wife, Rhonda Molinaro Harper
.
They married in 2007 and resided on Coronado Island for six years where they began raising their daughter Mackenzie 'Mac' along with many pets. He enjoyed being a fun father, fixing things, baking, scuba diving, cars, nature and hiking, camping, telling jokes and pulling pranks, and was very creative and artistic. He and his wife Rhonda, had lived in Coleville, CA only for the past month with plans to move into their new home in Smith Valley which they had just closed on the day of the accident. Chris served his country for 24 years in the Navy, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. Chris served as Fire Chief the first 22 years of his career and ended as The DAPA (Drug Alcohol Program Advisor) on the USS Carl Vinson for the last two years, his biggest accomplishment. He absolutely loved pouring into the lives of those that were impacted by drug and alcohol addiction. He had been five years sober himself.
Chris was a new member of Smith Valley Baptist Church, participating in many of the ministries, as well as running the sound booth every Sunday for services. As a recent retiree of the Navy, Chris had looked forward to obtaining a college degree, living on their new mini-ranch, and enjoying life with his wife and daughter in the Nevada outdoors.
Chris was an outstanding husband, father, and valuable member of his community, and he will greatly be missed. Chris is survived by his wife, Rhonda Harper of Wellington, NV; daughter Mackenzie Harper also of Wellington, NV; parents David and Kay Harper of Bear, DE; (sister) Faye (Harper) and Michael Corman of Barrington, NJ; and many extended family members and friends all over the world.
