Obituary
Clara A. Howell passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015 in Carson City, Nevada. She was 83.
Clara was born on June 11, 1931 in Smith Valley, Nevada the daughter of Howard and Lena Rogers. She was a member of the Yerington Paiute tribe. In her early twenties she worked as a matron at the historic Stewart Indian School. She was one of the last of the Elders to speak the Paiute language.
Clara is survived by her sisters, Rita Bailey and Peggy Hines; her brother, Sandy Rogers; her sons, Faron [Bill] Howell and Darrell Howell; her five grandchildren, Zach, Shilo, Lindsey, Jacob and Billie. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Stanley, Lindsey, Vernon and Alfred.
