Obituary
Darrell Ross Severinsen
passed away at his home in Yerington, Nevada on June 17, 2014 just three days before his 61st birthday.
Darrell was born in San Diego, California on June 20, 1953 the son of Warren and Diane (Archibald) Severinsen. Darrell married his high school sweetheart, Sheryl A. Kantack in Milpitas, California on May 18, 1974.
He worked and lived at the Lick Observatory on Mt. Hamilton, California for 26 years and retired as the Telescope Operations Manager. He enjoyed his job in keeping telescopes operating for the astronomers.
He loved exploring the desert, ghost towns and mines, which is what brought him to the Yerington area. He purchased property in Yerington in 1993 and in 2005 he had a house put in. He had lived in Yerington for the past 4 1/2 years before cancer took his life. Even though his life was cut short, he treasured the time that he had and really enjoyed his Yerington home. He was a happy, easy going person who always had a smile.
He is survived by his wife, Sheryl of Yerington; his sons, Shawn and his wife Nina of San Jose, CA, Justin of Lincoln, CA and Jeremy of Carson City, NV; his brothers, Randy and his wife Dawnetta of Ammon, CA and Wayne and his wife Kendra of Fremont, CA; his sister, Karan and her husband Ken Batteate of Hayward, CA; his Mother, Diane of Milpitas, CA; his granddaughter, Kayli Severinsen and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his Father, Warren.
