David passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday morning, December 20, 2008 with his wife and boys at his side. He had a long battle with pancreatic cancer, he fought hard up the minute of his passing.
David was born December 17, 1938 at his home in Safford, Arizona the son of Russell and June (Skaggs) Lacey. He made his way to Colorado Springs and met his wife Sharon Louise Cole, they were married on April 3, 1960 at the home of her parents. They would have celebrated their 49th year this April 2009. They moved back and forth from Colorado and Arizona. David and his family finally moved to Yerington in January 1969. They had a total of five children, William (Bill) Lacey, Michael (Mike) Lacey, Jonathan (John) Lacey and late infants Russell and Rudolph; his daughter-in-laws who he considered daughters, Linda Lacey and Raquel Lacey. David had three sisters, Nancey Newberry of Phoenix, Della Lollis of Marino, CA and Tony Haun. David had many grandchildren, Yerington's Sabrina (Isaurro Vargas), Samantha (Clemente Guerrero) Billie Sue Lacey, Alyssa Lacey, Russell Lacey, Andrew Repp, Jenny Redmon, Jillian Rempp, Jesse Brinkley, Dustin Brinkley, Brad Luke who is serving in Iraq and Nick Rempp who is in West Virginia and David's great grandchildren, Sofia, William, Anabelle Vargas; Mathew Brandon Guerro, Stery and Denaya Brinkley, Skye Brinkley, Terrance, Terrell, & Madison Redmon and he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
There was never a job to big for David. He worked as an underground miner at Climax Molybdenum in Colorado and Monarch mining at Mount Grant. He was a truck driver hauling cattle and onions here in the valley and also driving all over Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska. He worked as a Mechanic, Cat Skinner, back hoe operator. He also had a dream of going to Alaska which he finally did working a good time there. He was a very talented man and made many friends whereever he went. Between he and his sons they restored a 54 GMC ton flatbed truck. he also restored two Willis Jeeps He enjoyed going shooting with his sons and grandsons. David and his boys worked for weeks on the cars for the demolition derbies. He will be truly missed he was a loving husband, Father, Grandfather and a true friend. Our loss is Heavens gain.
A celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday March 7th, 2009 at his home in Mason, 629 Mason Avenue.
