Obituary

The morning was cool and serene. I gathered Mom's mail and went on my way to the hospital to visit her. When I entered her room I sensed a new calmness. I put my lips to her ear and whispered, "Good morning, Mom. I love you." She softly responded with the same loving words.
I told Mom I had picked up her mail, and her eyebrows raised (as she looked forward to her mail every day!) I said, "Mom, you have received the most beautiful invitation!" She opened her eyes and I continued, "Mom, it is all engraved in silver and gold! Mom, it's from God!" She had a look of awe on her face. I said, "Mom, He is inviting you to come home!" Our eyes focused on each other with a love so deep. I spoke, "The only thing, He needs an RSVP today." And she clearly responded, "I will. I will. I will."

So in the early hours of a new day, on July 6, 2016, our beloved matriarch, Delia Teresa Lommori, accepted God's invitation and went home to be with her beloved husband and son. The birds sang louder, the sun shined brighter, and we rejoiced she was no longer suffering.
Mom was born November 3, 1930 to Ambro and Belle Rosaschi and was the 15th of 16 children. In May of 1949, a senior at SVHS, she met the love of her life, Julio Lommori. The following month, June 19th, they were married in a garden wedding at her parents' ranch. Their union was blessed by four children, Julie, Fred, Angela (passed away shortly after birth) and Steven (passed away 2006). They lived the majority of their nearly 61 years of marriage in Smith Valley, where they loved every aspect of country living and they taught their children how to be good people, mostly by example.
Although Mom was challenged most of her life with health challenges, she surprised the physicians many times and continued to live life to its fullest, almost to the end. She possessed many beautiful and rare qualities, but the two most well-known were her heart overflowing with kindness and love for others and her sense of humor! She was a wonderful MOM, a very devoted GRAM and the sweetest GIGI! We are all very blessed to have shared so many of life's precious gifts with her all of these years!

Her family invites you to a Celebration of Life, Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 1100, at the Smith Valley United Methodist Church, 44 Rivers Road. It will be followed by a luncheon reception. We ask that you wear your brightest colors to honor her zest for life!
