Mom, Momma Dee, Granny Dee:
Dolores Elaine Hodges peaceable passed away on Saturday June 14th, 2008 in Yerington, Nevada. Dolores was born July 17th, 1932 to Carl and Ann Sartz. She and her brother Howard grew up together in Detroit, Michigan, where Howard resides today with his wife, Darlene. Dolores was a graduate of Highland Park High School. She married Thomas R. Hodges Sr. in 1952 and they had three sons together, Mike, Tom, and Howard.
Eventually, after moving out west and spending a short time in southern California, she moved to Reno in 1965 and began her status as a long time resident of Nevada. Dolores worked at the old Montgomery Wards in downtown Reno and also out at the Oddie Blvd location. She later worked her way into the advertising business and then into the radio business as a traffic controller for K-BUB, KCBN, and KROW radio stations. In 1983, Dolores left Reno to travel the seas on a yacht for two years, which were some of her more special days.
As her retirement moved closer, Delores moved to Yerington, Nevada in 1985 where she worked at the O'Sullivan plant and later at the South Lyon Medical Center where she finally retired from work. Yerington is where she wanted to be. She said Yerington was a bit like Reno when she first moved out west.
The past three years Dolores has resided at the South Lyon Long Term Care Facility. She was the residents' president for the past two years. Each month she wrote in the monthly newsletter, "From the Resident's Corner," which was an editorial to the families of residents of the facility.
Dolores is survived by her brother, Howard, her three sons, and several grand children: Keoni, Pailaka, Jon, Joe, Tarrah, Hannah, Danielle, and Tyler. She also leaves behind her extended Yerington family: Bob, Julie, Kelly, Dave, Robin, Lara, Jim, Alice, Sally, Dennis, the SLMC staff and community, and her Posse.
Dolores' passion for the arts and crafts was evident in her everyday life. There was truly no greater passion in her life than the family and friends she so dearly loved with all her hear. She is loved by many and will be greatly missed. At the request of Dolores, a memorial service is being held on June 21,2008 at the South Lyon Medical Center Park at 10 am.
Your sons salute you, mom. You were a great mom.
