Obituary
Dorthy Hoigaard Oliver a former resident of Yerington, Nevada passed away in Sacramento, California at U.C. Davis Medical Center on April 7, 2015 at age 88. You might remember seeing her and her faithful dog chole on daily walks around town.
She was born January 24, 1927 to Roy and Ella Marie Hoigaard who preceded her in death.
Dorthy grew up in La Cresenta, California. She graduated high school. She worked in her dad's resturant during high school and after. She was in the nurses corp during WW II and also worked in a cannery canning tomato's to help in the war effort. She retired after 30 years as an R.N. When asked what field she was in she would say "its easier to say what I haven't done". That was peds and OB. She was a manager in a kidney dialyais unit. She worked in Glendale, Lancaster, South Lake Tahoe all in California. She moved to Yerington, Nevada from Lake Tahoe to be near her grandchildren. Later moving to Prescott, Arizona then recently Carson City, Nevada. Once again to be closer to her family, Ex husband Donald Oliver, formerly of Yerington Nv. also her companion for the last 18 yrs, Alfred Jorgensen of Prescott, Arizona. Her Sons, Bob (Debra) Oliver, Rick (Debbie) Oliver, her Daughter, Mary McCandless and adopted children Karen and Brooke Martin; her Grandchildren, Lexie, Steven (proceed in her death), Kathy, Dean, Cameron, Megan, Jason(Cindy), Donald (Katrina), Karen(Joe), Eugene(Rosa), Steven (Arielle), Amanda and Casandra. She had great grandchildren And one Great-Great Grandchild on the way. Dorothy Loved life and would tell you You can pick sorrow or joy I chose Joy.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Church Of Latter Day Saints, 600 N. Oregon, Yerington, Nevada.
