Edward McIntire passed away in Reno, Nevada, Sunday morning, July 19, 2015, after losing his battle with brain cancer. He was 69.
Ed was born to Arlene Mills on July 19, 1946 in Portland, Oregon and graduated as part of the Calaveras High School Class of '64.
Ed served with the Army in Vietnam, where he was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Medal of Valor. He later moved to Yerington, where he met his wife of 43 years, Patte.
Ed worked as a core driller and owned the Heart of Town Texaco before going to work with the Lyon County School district for 27 years.
Ed had many hobbies including hunting, trap, fly-tying and fishing, cooking, baking sourdough bread, enjoying wine, and exploring the art of watercolor.
Ed is survived by his wife, Patte; daughter Jill Page and husband Jeff; son JW McIntire and wife Linh; grandchildren Alex McIntire, Joe, Jake, Jeffery, Josh, and Jon Page; sister Dolly Lake and husband Bill; brother Jim McIntire. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a son. Ed will be missed by family, friends, fishing buddies and all who enjoyed his cooking, tutorials, and sense of humor.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Ed on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 4:00pm, at the Page's residence, 508 E. Bridge Street, Yerington. Ed will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
