Edwardo B. Silva passed away at home in Yerington, Nevada on Thursday morning, May 9, 2013. He was 90.

Ed was born in Yerington, Nevada on June 23, 1922 the son of Alberto and Wilamina (Regallo) Silva. He grew up on a dairy farm east of Yerington, located at #1 Silva Lane. He milked cows and worked with his Dad on the farm until he took over and ran the 350 acre dairy farm until 1974. After selling the farm, Ed went to work for the Lyon County School District as a custodian and school bus driver for over 17 years retiring in 1990. Then he began managing the Pitzen Switch Laundry and Car Wash for his daughter and son-in-law. Ed raised and butchered rabbits for a hobby in Yerington for about 10 years. He was also known as the man to call to catch feral cats that he transported to local farms and ranches as mousing cats. After illness forced retirement fully he became the living relic on display at the Lyon County Museum, where on any Friday, if you chose to visit, you could get a great story about Yerington, Mason Valley and all the old timers and their history. Ed had been a member of the 20/30 Club, UPEC, the Moose Lodge of Mason Valley, the Lyon County Riders (now the Lyon County Fair Board), in which he helped to build the Fair grounds, and he also coached Little League.

Ed, also known as Papa, is survived by his daughters, Roxann Hill, Staci and son-in-law Donny Lindberg, Grandson, Jake and his wife Morgan Sherlock, Granddaughters, DeeDee (Kasey) Kersch, Ashlee Lindberg & Nate, Lisa Lindberg & Travis, Kayla, and Nadalee Lindberg, Great Grandchildren, Katie, Jaimee Kersch, Payton Sherlock, Brody and Tanner; his brother, Vaughn Silva and Sister, Elsie Brower. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Mickey and granddaughter, Katie Hill.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 2:00 pm at 1405 Route 208, Yerington, a potluck BBQ, which is coorinated by Holly Villines who can be contacted by calling 463-5465 or emailed at t_rolly@hotmailcom and fellowship will follow the service.
