Elizabeth "Betty" M. Freitas passed away at Renown Regional Medical Center, Reno, Nevada on Sunday morning, March 6, 2011. She was 83.

Betty was born December 25, 1927 in Ranshaw, Pennsylvania the daughter of Stanley and Sophia (Sitko) Lukoski. She attended Coal Township High School, Fitzgerald Mercy Nursing School and the University of Nevada, Reno and Las Vegas. Betty served in the United States Navy, Nurse Corps during the Korean War. Betty married M. H. Freitas on December 1, 1951 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Yerington, Nevada.

Betty had lived in Yerington since 1966 moving from Quantico, Virginia. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, was on the Pastorial Council of the church. She was a member and current President of St. Anne's Guild. She was also a member of the R.P.E.N.

Betty is survived by her husband, M. H. Freitas of Yerington; her children, Mark and his wife, Victoria Bos of Virginia City, NV, Michael and his wife Lorri of Charlottesville, Virginia, Neal of Gardnerville, NV and Nan of Ventura, California; her brother, Edward Lukoski of Harrisburg, PA; her grandchildren, Wesley Harris of Charlottesville, VA, Allyson Freitas of Reno, Byrne Miyamoto of Corvallis, Oregon, Natalie and Kassidy Freitas of Gardnerville, NV and Madison Freitas of Virginia City, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Rosary will be recited for Betty 7:00 pm Thursday, March 10th at the Holy Family Catholic Church 103 North West Street Yerington. The Memorial Mass will be 11:00 am Friday, March 11 at Holy Family Catholic Church. A reception will follow the service at the Catholic Center.
