Florence Maye King was born in Idaho on December 17th, 1934, to Anna Maye and Earl Baily King. She had an older brother, Eugene, and a younger sister, Edna. The family moved around the country as Earl was in construction and went where there was work.
The King family was introduced to Christ by missionaries when they were living in a logging camp in Troy, Oregon, where Anna Maye and Earl were cooks. Florence remained a devoted Christian for the rest of her life.
Earl moved the family to Washington, to work at the lumber mill in Clarkston, but he died soon after when Florence was 14. Florence went to Biola University and studied to become an elementary school teacher. She got her first teaching job in Yerington, Nevada. She hadn't been in town long when she met James Hutchison, who worked for the State Roads Department. Florence and James had a son, Charles, and a daughter, Deborah, who gave them three grandsons, Jemini, Zane, and Chance.
After her husband James died, Florence moved to the Mason Valley Residence, where she enjoyed weekly Bible Studies and had friends take her to church when she felt well enough.
Florence died peacefully in her sleep on October 13th, 2016. She is survived by her son Charles, her grandsons: Jemini, Zane, and Chase, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was a faithful and steadfast servant of God, no matter the circumstances, and we are thankful for her example.
A Memorial service will be held 10:00 am Friday, December 30th, 2016 at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington. She was buried next to her husband at the Valley View Cemetery in October.
Arrangements are under the direction of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, Yerington (775) 463-2911
