Frances Jean Snyder passed away at her home in Weed Heights on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Frances was 77.
Frances was born in Bristow, Oklahoma on July 16, 1933 the daughter of George and Ida (Vanderpool) Smith. She moved with her family to Modesto, California in 1940 eventually settling in Coalinga, California in 1945. She graduated from Coalinga High School in 1951 and then went to what is now known as West Side College and then moved to Yerington in 1957. She worked with her husband Dan Poly on their Farm Machinery business then worked at the Lyon Health Center for 11 years. Frances also worked for the Lyon County sheriff's office in communications, she was promoted to Corporal after a year and was put in charge of Dispatch and is largely responsible for the 9-1-1 center. Frances retired after 21 years in 1999. She loved Yerington and the people in it and contributed much to their welfare, but her main focus was her family.
Frances is survived by her son, Guy and his wife Marie Anderson of Scottsbluff, Nebraska and her daughter, Tammie and her husband John Reid of Yerington; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Dave) Price of Lemore Air Base, California, Justin Butcher of Reno and Michael Butcher of Carson City, and her great grandchild, Michael Price; also by several nieces and nephews and a 'second son' Terry Butcher of Yerington.
Her Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home 25 Hwy 208 Yerington.
