Henry Francis Goettsch passed away on Wednesday morning, December 14, 2016 at the South Lyon Medical Center, Long Term Care. He was 93.
Francis was born September 15, 1923 at home in Dalzel, South Dakota the son of Henry and Alice Goettsch. He spent his childhood around the Black Hills, at age 14 he went to work riding horses for neighbors to earn money.
He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After being discharges from the Navy he returned to South Dakota to work on a ranch and there he met his future wife, LaBirda and they were married August 31, 1946.
They moved to California where he worked excavating swimming pools then worked at a stockyard. In 1963 they moved to Nevada to work at Rafter 7 then eventually went to work for the City of Yerington as an animal control officer and after ten years he retired.
his life was fulfilled by his working with horses and cows. He loved team roping and took great pride in the buckles and patches he won.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan (John) Billows and Sandra (Jack) Marriott; his brother, Everett; and his grandchildren, Randy, Tamara, Kevin, Mike, Nancy and mark; several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, LaBirda; his brothers, Jim, Harlan, Neil and Bill and his sisters, Joyce and Mary.
Francis's Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington. Burial of his cremains will be at the family plot at Valley View Cemetery.
