Obituary

Frank Edwin Mintun passed away at Evergreen Conv. Hospital in Carson City on Friday, July 6, 2007 while recovering from hip surgery. He was 84.

He was born in Lingston, California the 10th of 12 children to Frank and Ada Mintun. He served in World War Ii as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps in Japan from 1942 to 1946. He retired from NCR in San Diego, California and migrated to Nevada in 1988. He met Frances McGowan in 1990 and they resided together in Yerington until her death in September 2000. He always commented that the years in Nevada were the happiest with Frances and all of their RV travels, she was truly the love of his life. For the last 4 years he resided in Fallon with his step son until his fall which he broke his hip in May. His hobbies encompassed his love for the outdoors. In his younger years he watered skied, fished and hunted. He played golf and owned both street and dirt bikes.

He is survived by his Daughter and her husband, Peggy and Bill Troop of Poway, California; his step son and his wife, Curtis and Johnnie McGowan of Fallon, Nevada; his step-daughter and her husband DeAnn and Bob Fabri of Gray Eagle, Nevada, Step-son and his wife, David and Barbara McGowan of Yerington, Nevada; his sister and her husband, Murella and George Hall of El Segundo, California; his grandchildren, Stephen (Sarah) Troop of Los Angles, California, David (Stacey) Troop of Chula Vista, California; and great granddaughter, Audrey Monique Troop of Chula Vista, California; and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 10th, 2007 at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home 25 Hwy 208 Yerington. Burial will be at Missouri Flats Cemetery.
