George William Fraser, Sr. passed away at his home in Yerington, Nevada on Sunday, March 6, 2011. He was 80.
George was born July 27, 1930 in Fallon, Nevada the son of George Daniel and Christina Mae (Schacht) Fraser. When George was 6 months old the family moved to Yerington where he spent the rest of his life. In High School, he was known as the 'Flying Dutchman', because he was the only non-Italian on the football team.. George married Betty Lou Dodge on August 31, 1950 in Gardnerville, Nevada.
George enjoyed farming very much. He was also known as 'Mr. fix It' and loved to work with wood building decks and cabinets. He was a member of the 20/30 Club, a life time member of the Lions Club and was a Volunteer Fireman. George was one of the original 'Beef Eaters' for the UNR Football program. George and his wife Betty traveled throughout the world, they also traveled in their 5th wheel around the United States and Canada.
George is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Lou Fraser of Yerington; his children, Fred and his wife Char of Vacaville, California, Bill and his wife Kelly of Yerington and Ron and his wife Marian of Mapleton, Utah; his sister, Lois Vicks and his grandchildren, Ryan, Mallory and her husband Tyler LaMonda, Zack, Tim, Luke, Dustin and his wife LaRene Smart, Jacob, and Scott; his Great grandchildren; Riley Fraser, Ethan Fraser, Dylan Fraser and Aiden Fraser.
A 'Celebration of Life' will be held at the family home, 412 Silver Star, Yerington on Saturday, March 12th , 1:00 - 5:00 pm
