George Russell Harper passed away at his home in Yerington, Nevada on Thursday morning, May 29, 2014.  He was 78.

George was born in Hemet, California on July 18, 1935 the son of William and Mabel (Weaver) Harper.  He grew up in California and was a veteran.  He married Patricia White in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 31, 1965.

He moved to Yerington in 1996 coming from Perris, California.  George had worked as a Diesel Mechanic and Driver for many years.  He was a member of the American Historical Truck Society and the Mason Valley Gem & Mineral Club.

George is survived by his wife, Patricia; his sons, Michael Nettles and David Harper; his daughter, Michelle Acevedo; his brothers, Robert Harper and Harry Harper; his grandchildren, Brenna Nettles, Michael Acevedo, Alicia Acevedo, Vanessa Acevedo, Alex Acevedo, Jacob Harper and Sam Harper; and by one great granddaughter.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank Harper.

A Memorial service will be held 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington.
