On August 21, 2019 Gordon Diehl passed away at the age of 87 surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home.
He was born May 9, 1932 in Winnemucca, Nevada to Nora McClure and Robert Diehl. He married his high school sweetheart Martha Allum.
Gordon settled in Yerington with his father and stepmother in 1945 after moving around rural Nevada and California. He attended Yerington High School and enjoyed participating in 3 sports, football, basketball and track. In 1959 Gordon went into business for himself eventually opening an appliance store featuring sales and service. Because of his passion for the sport of archery he included archery sales as well as appliance sales. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge with beginner archers. He retired in 1999, but continued archery sales from his garage.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, archery tournaments and exploring the back roads and hills of Nevada. He was a charter member of the Walker River Bowmen and actively participated for 60 years. He was an avid chukar hunter and loved training, hunting with and spoiling his succession of Brittany spaniels. He was a lifetime member of the Mason Valley Trap Club.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 69 years, Martha, daughter Dawn (Bruce) Greene, son Denis (Karen) Diehl, brother Forest (Marlene) Diehl, sister Mary Jane Stefanini, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
