Obituary

Gwen M. Bradley passed away on Monday afternoon, July 12, 2010 at South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington. She was 84.

Gwen was born in Gettysburg, South Dakota on April 19, 1926 the daughter of Johnny M. and Myrtle B. Thompson. She lived in South Dakota until she moved with her family to Gold Hill, California and later to Pilot Hill, California at the age of 13. She was one of 6 children; her sister Leah passed away at a very young age. On December 5, 1942 Gwen married Dale D. Bradley and they were married 62 years prior to his death in January 2004. They had three children, Darrell, Melvin and Becky. Dale was in the lumber industry and they lived in Pino Grande, Camino, Omo Ranch and Mt. Aukum, California prior to moving to Yerington, Nevada.

Gwen was a housewife/homemaker and she loved being with her family, baking, gardening, sewing and reading. Gwen was always involved in her children's activities at school; she was active in PTA, Eastern Star, 3 Forks and Pleasant Valley Granges in Mt. Aukum and Pleasant Valley, California. When Dale became active in VFW, Gwen became active in the VFW Women's auxiliary. Gwen and Dale loved square dancing and she prided herself in the costumes she made for their events. They also built two homes together and remodeled one. Gwen and Dale moved to Yerington in July 1994 where they made many new friends and traveled, mostly to visit family.

Gwen was a member of Mason Valley Women of the Moose, Chapter 2059. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; her parents, a brother Dick Thompson and sisters, Leah Thompson, Eva Larson, Laura Oram and Jan Loomis. She is survived by sons, Darrell (Audrey) Bradley of Yerington, and Melvin (Polly) Bradley of Fiddletown, California; a daughter, Becky (Bob) Boatwright of Yerington; many nieces and nephews and 7 granchildren, Wayne, Teresa, John, Troy, Dana, Jennifer and Jeromy and also by 9 great grandchildren.
Gwen will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

At her request there will be no memorial service, her cremains will be placed with her husbands at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada.
