Obituary

Henry Roland Dreyer age 57 of Smith Valley left this mortal existence early Saturday morning, August 6th, to start haulin' hay in Heaven!

Henry was born January 9, 1959 in Carson City, Nevada the son of Roland and Joan (McKenzie) Dreyer. Growing up in Minden on the Dreyer Ranch where the Dreyer hoggies ate their fill and wallowed by the side of US Highway 395 greeting all who entered Minden.

Henry attended schools in Douglas County and after graduation from Douglas High School got a part-time job at Meneley Motoers as a mechanic's helper for parts. This first job gave Henry the know-how he needed to repair his beloved TRACTORS; he loved them and boy could he fix them! He even explained to his son Roland that the Dreyer family would go homeless before he would get rid of one of his dozens of cherished tractors. Henry has left his family a wonderful collection of tractors of all makes and all sizes and he especially loved his rare, antique tractors.

Henry worked with the Eagle Valley Construction where he got his start driving truck and operating heavy equipment, frequently working his skip loader at the Schwake's pit. Eventually Henry bought a truck from Ivan, then another as he started hauling alfalfa hay over most of Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah and Arizona.

Henry devoted much of his adult life serving the community as a volunteer firefighter with Douglas County Engine Company #1. He was honored by the Minden Town Board for his quarter centry of devotion to the Engine Company, its historic engines and the fabled Minden firehouse and its noon whistle.

Henry was involved with several tractor and gun associations, and he looked forward with great anticipation every year to the annual Carson Valley Tractor Pull and the Iggy and Squiggy's Quad Rides.

Henry is survived by his wife, Kathy; his father Roland Dreyer; his brother, Kurt (Erica); his nieces, Julia and Alisha; his children, Genevieve, Roland and Matia; his step children, Andrea, Rob, Sam, Ryan and Katie; 9 grandchildren and one great grandchildren.

A family burial service will be held at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Donations can be made at the Wells Fargo Bank to the Dreyer Children Trust Account.

Family and friends may sign his online guest book at www.FRFH.net and sympathy cards may be sent directly to his wife from this site.
