Herbert Austin passed away on Friday afternoon, April 17, 2009 at the South Lyon Medical Center, Yerington. He was 94 years, 5 Months and 4 Days of age.

Herbert was born in Los Angeles, California on November 13, 1914 the son of Robert and Beulah (Burden) Austin. He married Joyce Turley in Carson City, Nevada on November 19, 1977. They had lived in Yerington for the past 24 plus years, coming from Sonoma, California. Herbert was a member of the SLMC Auxillary and the Civil Air Patrol, which he retired from as a Major. He was known for his storytelling and he enjoyed singing and reading. He also enjoyed fishing, Gardening and Target Shooting.

Herbert is survived by his loving wife of almost 32 years, Joyce of Yerington; his daughter Sandy and her husband Ron Keith of Santa Rosa, California.

His Memorial Service was held at the Mason Valley Southern Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 21, 2009.
Cremation was under the direction of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, Yerington.
