James 'Jim' D. Davis passed away at his home in Smith, Nevada on November 16, 2006. He was 65.

Jim was born in Santa Ana, California on September 18, 1941 the son of James and Wanda (Thompson) Davis. He married Susan White in Newport Beach, California on August 1, 1970. He earned a bachelors degree in Police Science & Administration in 1970 followed by his Masters Degree in Criminal Justice in 1976. He worked for the Santa Ana Police Department, working Vice, Narcotics and Auto Theft. His favorite assignment while Lieutenant was as head of the canine unit. He was credited with designing the original computer aided dispatch center while in charge of research and planning. After retiring from the Police Department he went into Real Estate Appraising for several years. He and his wife spent the last 5 years wintering in the Smith Valley coming from June Lake, California.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; his daughter, Stephanie and her husband Ron Hodson of Dickerson, North Dakota; his son, Troy and his wife Kelly Davis of Murrieta, California; his grandsons, Joshua and Joseph Hodson and granddaughter, Kristi Davis.
