Janice Carol Frade

Janice Carol Simmons Frade was born on July 21, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Carl and Helen Simmons. She passed away on August 31, 2026 in Carson City, Nevada.

Janice was born and grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She attended Whittler Elementary School, Lincoln Junior High, and had just started at South High School. Her father, Carl, took a job at the Anaconda Cooper Mine in Yerington, Nevada in November 1953. Janice was not happy about leaving her friends and moving to Yerington. Janice was very active in several clubs: a member of the Beacon Staff–school newspaper, was Treasurer of the Junior Class and Secretary of the Senior Class. She dated Bill Frade in high school, and they were married in the Methodist Church in Yerington on June 23, 1957.

Bill and Janice had three children: Patricia Ann, Donald William, and Nanette Helen.

She was a full-time wife and mother, raising her children, making sure they had nice clothes to wear, helping them with school work or projects, and cooking good foods (especially cookies). She took sewing classes, painting classes and painted a few pictures. She embroidered several pictures and learned to quilt.

Janice was a social butterfly who was involved in several clubs. Beginning in 1958, Janice was a member of the Pizen Annies, becoming President in January 1961. Janice was in a bridge card group for several years. She was also part of an international gourmet dinner group where they met at various members' houses and the host would make the main course while others would bring side dishes or desserts from various countries.

Janice loved to play cards with her mother, her children, and her grandchildren. Her favorite card games were Skipbo and Uno.

Janice is preceded in death by her husband Bill Frade, her parents Carl and Helen Simmons, and her brother Mark Simmons. She is survived by her children: Patricia of Orem, Utah; Donald (Jennifer) of Yerington, Nevada; and Nanette Beers (Kent) of Heber, Utah. Grandchildren: Kevin Frade, Kyle Frade, Korey Frade, Conor Chell, Christopher Beers, Rebecca (Beers) Rowlan, Asia (Frade) Fellows, and Jayden Frade; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 7, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 600 North Oregon Street, Yerington. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery, Yerington, Nevada .  Family and friends are invited to sign her online guest book at www.FRFH.net
