Obituary
John Sciarani passed away at Renown Medical Center in Reno on Wednesday, December 22, 2016. He was 90.
John was born on the family ranch in Yerington, Nevada on April 8, 1926. He lived on the ranch until he moved into the Mason Valley Residence in 2013.
He was a first generation American. His father Arnold was born in Personico, Switzerland and his mother, Domenichina Perasso was born in Silvano d'Orba, Italy. they immigrated to Mason Valley separately and were married in April 1911. John was the eighth of eight children: Eugo, Nelson, Katherine, Lee, Lela, Etcy, Arnold, Jr. and John. Only Etchy is still living.
John was a cattle rancher with his three brothers in Mason Valley and Topaz, California. He lived with his Mother until her passing in 1981 and they spent many summers in Topaz where the cattle grazed on the lakeside pasture. he was an excellent horseman and drove cattle for three days from Yerington to Topaz each spring and back again each fall until 1990.
John, who never married, had 21 nieces and nephews, three of whom were with him when he passed. He also had numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. Uncle Johnny was known and loved by his teasing, sharp mind and memorable laugh.
He was a life long member of Holy Family Catholic Church where his services will be held. His Rosary will be held prior to the Funeral Mass on Thursday, December 29th at 9:30 am. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 am. John will be laid to rest at the family plot in Valley View Cemetery.
