John Henry Shipley passed away Monday morning, September 2, 2013 at his home in Yerington, Nevada surrounded by his family. He was 76.

John was born in Dora, Missouri December 16, 1936, the son of Alfonso and Martha (Freeman) Shipley. John worked for the People's Packing Co., Lyon Market, Anaconda and was doing courier work for CTH Radiology at the time of this death.

During his lifetime he enjoyed many things including volunteer work for the City Basketball League, and also helped coach t-ball, and farm league. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice Thurston Shipley; and his children Lori and Larry, grandchildren Heidi, Tiffany, and Lane, great grandchildren Kylee, Ava, and Ella, and his siblings Lewis Shipley,Treva Petersen, Linda Lee, and Sonny Shipley Homan, and several neices and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents and siblings – Maxine Hale, Lorene Driskell, Al Shipley Jr., Lee Shipley, Ella Mae Hunter, and Lola Weller.

A Memorial service was held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 7, 2013 at The Yerington Vineyard Fellowship Church, 307 Broadway Avenue Yerington, a reception followed the services at the Yerington Elementary School.
