Obituary
Johnnie 'Pops' C. Collins passed away on Saturday afternoon, June 19, 2010 at the Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City, Nevada. He was 79.
Johnnie was born in Dallas, Texas on March 26, 1931 the son of James and Ethel (Taylor) Collins.
Johnnie had served in the USMC with duties in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He retired from the USMC in 1975.
Johnnie had lived in Yerington since 1986. He had worked for Casino West as a tour bus driver for over 15 years. He enjoyed bowling, camping, bottle collecting and reading.
He is survived by his children, Dell & Susan Collins of Florida, Rhonda and Ray Nelson of California and Laurinda Turner of Yerington; his 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; his aunt, Dorothy McClain of Texas and numerous cousins all of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Martha who passed away April 17, 2009 after 52 years of marriage.
Johnnie's funeral service will be held 10:00 am Saturday at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home 25 Hwy 208 Yerington with military honors provided by American Legion Post #9
