Obituary

Joseph Van Der Heyden, Jr. passed at Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada on January 7, 2014. He was 80.

Joseph was born in West Brighten, New York on April 7, 1933 the son of Joseph and Phillippine (Kissinger) Van der Heyden.

He was a Korean War veteran having served over 14 years in the United States Marine Corps. He received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct medal.

He worked many years for the C&H Sugar Comapny. He has lived the past 20 years in Yerington. He enjoyed watching Football and Baseball.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 16 years, Oletha; his three step-sons, Mike, Ike and Mark; his 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; his sister and her husband, Phyllis and Duane Dermody.

His memorial service will be held with military honors at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.
