Obituary

On September 8, 1923, the world became a better place, when on that day, Julio Lommori was born into this world to Frediano and Madeline Lommari in Yerington, Nevada. Dad was the youngest of six children of this immigrant couple from Lucca, Italy. At the tender age of two, Dad's Mother passed away. He was then raised by his Father and guided by his older siblings.

On Tuesday, April 20, 2010, Dad began his eternal journey, as he peacefully slipped away, in the arms of his beloved wife, and surrounded by his loving family. Dad completed his early years of school at the Barrett School in Mason Valley, and later attended and graduated from Yerington, High School. During those years, Dad was a huge help and cheerfull partner to his Father, who raised vegetables and peddled them throughtout Mason Valley and Smith Valley. Dad recalled digging many vegetables in the evenings, and the next morning they would load the truck with "fruits of their labor" and by the end of the day the truck bed was always empty!!

After high school, Dad enlisted in the US Navy and served our country during World War II. During that time, his three brothers were also serving in our military. Though in different branches of the military, it was during one Thanksgiving, Dad and his brothers were able to celrate the holiday by being all together. After his service in the Navy, Dad came back to Mason Valley. One evening he was visiting his sister, Helen Nuti in Smith Valley and she asked him to accompany her to the high school to pick up her son from the school dance. And then it happened! That night Dad met the love of his life, Delli Rosaschi, who was a senior at SVHS. Mom graduated on June 10, 1949 and nine days later she and Dad married.

Dad and Mom lived several years in Yerington, where Dad worked for Pistone Construction. Mr. Pistone commented for years after, what a deligent and dedicated worker Dad was! As time went by, they were blessed with a daughter, Julie and a son, Fred. Then, Mom's parents asked Dad to come to work at their ranch in Smth Valley, and the young family moved to the Ambro Rosaschi ranch. Mom has often commented how much her parents loved Dad, like their son. Dad worked very closely with his father-in-law and they had a deep respect for one another.

In 1957, Dad and Mom mover their family to their first-owned home, when they purchased the Quilici ranch on Saroni Road. Here is where they completed their family, with another son, Steven in 1958. Dad farmed the ranch and created beautiful fields of alfalfa, potatoes, onions, and grains. He treated the soil so gently and always trusted the Lord would help provide him and his family with this wonderful life. Dad was one of the most gentle man on earth. He showed his love in so many ways. He was a loving and devoted husban to our Mom for over 60 years. Together Dad and Mom worked side by side, not only did they enjoy one another's company, but they were wonderfull examples to their children and others. Dad was a father filled with wisdom and love. We were extermely blessed to have him as our teacher and friend for so long. Dad was an incredible grandpa, who took that role very serious! He has contributed so much to the success of his children and grandchildren. When he became a great grandpa and'Nono', his heart sang with joy! Dad was also a wonderfull friend to the world! He never had a negative comment, and when hard times struck, it was Dad that alsways kept us together. It was his faith and soft words of encouragement that would alsways pull us through. One would only need to catch a glimpse of his trademark beautiful smile and you knew everything was going to be alright! Dad will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and loved him. what a beautiful legacy he leaves us!

Dad's Memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, April 24th at the Smith Valley Community Methodist Church with a fellowship to follow at the church. A private interment will take place at a later date.
