Lawrence 'Larry' Earl Cribbs passed away on Wednesday morning, October 24, 2012 at the South Lyon Medical Center, Long Term Care in Yerington, Nevada. He was 97.
Larry was born on May 30, 1915 in Lovelle, Wyoming the son of Charles and Irene May (Perry) Cribbs.
When Larry was five the family moved to Placerville, California to be close to their Mothers parents. They lived on a small pear ranch and the whole family family picked pears, peaches and apples. Larry graduated from El Dorado County High School in 1933. He worked for the government as a surveyor all over the western United States and Alaska. He joined the Army in 1944 and was sent to the South Pacific. He received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army Occupation Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Upon his discharge in 1946 he returned to Placerville and bought the family ranch from his parents. He met and married Doris H. Ervin in 1950 and they had four children who were all born in Placerville. The family moved to Sutter Creek area in 1962 where Larry worked as a carpenter/contractor. In 1975 he worked for Huck Fuller of Jackson remodeling Sharkey's Casino in Gardnerville. In 1981 he and Doris moved to Northern Idaho where they lived for 24 years before moving back to Nevada.
Larry is survived by his his wife of 62 years, Doris; son, William and his wife Sandra Cribbs, Jesse and his wife Lisa Cribbs and Laura Ann and her husband David Evitt; a daughter in law, Bonnie Marie Cribbs (Tom's wife); 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was the last of the children of his parents, as all eight had passed away , he was also preceded in death by his son, Thomas.
In keeping with his wishes no Memorial service will be held. Cremation has taken place and his cremains will be scattered at a later date.
