Lawrence Fawcett died suddenly and unexpectedly in his home in Yerington on Friday, March 15, 2019. He was 62.
Larry was born to Lawrence and Wilma Fawcett on August 29, 1956 in Yerington, Nevada. He graduated from Yerington High School and attended vocational schooling in Susanville, California. Larry then returned to Yerington where he worked as a welder at Marathon Equipment from the day it opened until the day it closed. Camping, hunting and spending time in the mountains is where you would find Larry at his happiest. When he wasn't in the outdoors, he could be found enjoying his favorite sports teams on TV. He loved any opportunity to attend UNR basketball and Reno Aces games with family. Always found next to his side was his labradoodle, Marlie. She, and the other dogs in his life before her, were always given his constant love and companionship. Larry was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His faith was patient and constant. He always arrived early enough each Sunday to ensure the chapel was a comfortable temperature and that everyone was greeted with a handshake and a program for Sunday services. He loved serving in numerous callings over the years ranging from librarian to supporting the Boy Scouts. One of Larry's greatest strengths and biggest happinesses was being Uncle Larry to Liam, Izzy, Peyton, Addy and Finn. He was at every birthday party or special event. He could be found wrestling, decorating sugar cookies, or watching sports with them. He always reminded them to "make sure you listen to your mother." He was a powerful constant in their life and was loved very deeply by them. Larry will be greatly missed by all who were touched by his life. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his infant brother David. Larry is survived by his immediate family— Roger & Kathy Fawcett, Heather & Shaawn Cannon, and Holly & Wes Stephenson. He was Uncle Larry to Liam, Isabelle, Peyton, Adelyn & Finn. He is also survived by his Aunt Chris Fawcett and numerous cousins. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, March 21 at Valley View cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later day at the church. Family and friends are invited to sign his online guest book at www.FRFH.net .
