Leo Patrick Dunn passed away at his ranch in Wellington, Nevada on May 22, 2007 surrounded by his family and friends. He passed away peacefully losing his battle with cancer. He was 61.

Leo was born and raised in San Francisco. Later, he moved to San Jose for a career with the San Jose Police Department. He and his wife, Jeannette, raised their daughter, Sloan. He was devoted to his family and had many life long friendships.

He worked for the San Jose Police Department for 26 years, retiring as a Sergeant in 1995. During his police career, Sgt. Dunn worked as a patrol supervisor, Field Traing Supervisor and in the Narcotics Division and as an undercover officer and supervisor.

After retiring, Leo moved to Wellington, Nevada. He joined the Smith Valley Rotary Club and enjoyed being part of the community. He had found a place a cowboy could call home.

Leo was an expert marksman. He was a lifetime member of the Single Action Shooting Society and of the National Rifle Association. Leo has been shooting in competion since he was a teenager and won many awards for his shooting prowness. His close friends knew him as 'Uncle Leo'. He was a steady hand at the range, in camp and on the police deapartment. He was a founding father of the Freegrazers Posse and a member of the Ancient and Honorable Order of E Clampus Vitus. His friendly manner and sense of humor won him many friends.

Leo was well loved by his family and friends and will be missed very much. The family request that memorial donations be made in his name to UCSF Foundation 44 Montgomery St., #4400 San Francisco, CA 94101. Memo: Cancer Research.
