Leona Hanson passed away peacefully on March 24, 2018 with her family by her side.  She was 97.

Leona was born in Yerington on July 30, 1920 the daughter of Leo and Hattie (Morgan) Osborn.  She graduated from Yerington High School and then attended Business College in Sacramento.  She married Willard Hanson, the love of her life, in Yerington in 1940.

She was a member of Eastern Star and worked as Lyon County Librarian for many years.  She was the BOSS of the family and always made time for any member of the family that needed a hug, advice or support.  She will be truly missed by her family and friends.

Leona is survived by her five children, Sandra (Mario) Barbieri, Sue (Vern) Miller, Gary (Beverly) Hanson, Patti (Gary) Luchetti, and Dick (Audrey) Hanson; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and first born granddaughter, Leslie Denardo.

Her funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington.  Burial will be next to her husband at the Valley View Cemetery.
