Leonard Jerome Pederson passed away on Saturday afternoon, January 28, 2012 at Heartstone of Northern Nevada in Sparks, Nevada. He was 88.
Leonard was born in Pickardville, North Dakota on September 19, 1923 the son of Edward and Hattie (Hove) Pederson. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army.
Leonard had lived in Yerington since 1954. He had worked for the National Guard for over 26 years in the Truck Shop, also worked at Copeland Lumber and also served as Assistant Assessor for Lyon County. Leonard had also helped to start the Faith Lutheran church in Yerington.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his children, Gary and his wife Rita Pederson, Robert Miller, Loretta and her husband Wes Spahn and Holly and her husband John Steely; by his brother, John Pederson and numerous grandchildren.
A viewing will be held 6 - 8:00 pm on Thursday evening, February 2nd at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home. A viewing will also be held at the church prior to the service. Leonard funeral service will begin at 10:00 am Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Faith Lutheran Church, 12 North West Street, Yerington. Burial will be 2:30 pm Friday with military honors at Northen Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Fernley.
