Obituary

Lester Edd Bybee passed away early Saturday morning, March 17, 2007 at the South Lyon Medical Center, Yerington. He was 90.

He was born in Buhl, Idaho on April 23, 1916 the son of James and Maggie (Dunlap) Bybee. He met and married Juanita P. Cutshalts in Buhl, Idaho on August 6, 1936. They were married for over 65 years. He had worked in construction and ranching. He had worked in Tillamook, Oregon building blimp hangars for the security department. He was working in the Philippine Islands when World War II broke out and he returned home and enlisted in the Merchant Marines and was part of of the units that transported ammo, guns and anything else that needed to be shipped to ground forces. During the last part of the war he was an instructor on Catalina Island for Navy personnel. After the War he worked in construction in California and Idaho. In 1953 he brought his family to Yerington to work for Anaconda Copper. He homesteaded on Bybee Lane, he had built Bybee Lane and had the power put in and built the home that is still being lived in today. In the early 1960's he sold the homestead and bought a ranch in Fallon, Nevada. In 1966 along with his son, Richard they bought the Giovacchini Ranch in Smith Valley. After he sold the Smith Valley Ranch they moved to Cole, Missouri and farmed there for several years.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Ronee Bybee of Smith Valley; Daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Pete Heinrich of Centralia, Missouri; grandchildren, Richard (Anastasia) Bybee of Reno, Vici (Craig) Cooper of Carlin, Jennifer (David) Lewis of Spanish Springs, Latisha (Mike) Shealy of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Patty (Terry) Olsen of Centralia, Missouri and Martin (Julie) Heinrich of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 9 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and his wife.

In keeping with his wishes no memorial services will be held. Donations may be made in his name to either the Valley Baptist Church, Yerington or a charity of one's choice.
