Lester L. Rosaschi passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the Gardnerville Health & Rehab Center. He was 84.
Lester was born January 7, 1933 in Yerington the son of Ambro and Dolly Rosaschi. He lived with his parents on the historical old Miller and Lux Ranch in Mason Valley until he was 5. His parents purchased the "Roach" ranch in Sweetwater in 1938. He went to school in a one room school in Sweetwater, riding his horse, 'Creampuff' to school, rain or shine. When he was in the 5th grade he moved back to Yerington and with his Grandmother and Aunt and went to the school at the 'Barrett' school a few miles from Yerington, until the 8th grade. He then moved back to Sweetwater to help his parents on the ranch. Lester was a real cowboy, when he was 12 he belonged to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, called the turtles later called the RCA and now called the Professional Rodeo Association. He was a Team Roper and Calf roper and won 4 state titles and an International Cowboys Assoc. Title and numerous trophy belt buckles. He was also a hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed having a garden. He married Connie Crawford on July 5, 1954 and then worked for his parents. In 1964 Connie and Lester got a loan and purchased the 'Burkham' ranch from his parents. He established a world class trout fishery. In 1978 he purchased the 'Home' ranch, and after many droughts they sold the ranch and purchased one in Colorado which they had for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife, Connie, his children, Dale (Laurie) and Renee; his grandchildren, Hannah, Emmott, Monty and Shad; his great granddauther, Courtney. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of his Life service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Smith Valley Methodist Church, 44 River Road Smith. Family and friends are invited to sign his online guest book at
